Spanish club
Spanish club is for anyone in Year 8 and 9 who studies Spanish. It is run by a group of Year 14 students and takes place every Monday at lunch time in ML3. This is a great opportunity to get to know other people who study Spanish, learn more about Spanish culture and traditions and practise speaking Spanish! Currently, C.Patterson is running the Spanish Club every other Monday.
Hispanofest
Hispanofest is a wonderful opportunity for Year 10 Spanish students. It is run by NICILT and Queen’s University Belfast. Year 10 students audition for a place on the team which is made up of four students. The team will set up a trade stand to sell products or run a tourist information office. Not only will they gain enhanced ICT, marketing and enterprise skills, they will also use their reading, listening, speaking and writing skills in Spanish. They will meet and be judged by other professional linguists, have a guided tour of the Queen’s University Belfast campus and listen to a talk on the importance of the Spanish language and the relevance of language skills for employability. Pupils win prizes for different aspects of their performance, such as their spoken Spanish, creativity and more!
