Eco Club Volunteer Day at Bog Meadows

On Fri 14th June, 18 Year 8 and 9 students visited Bog Meadows to volunteer with Ulster Wildlife. During the day students had the chance to explore a meadow, create leaf rubbings and take part in pond dipping. Students were able to study a water stick insect which is only the second time it has been found in Bog Meadows, since having its presence first recorded in Northern Ireland at the Bog Meadows nature reserve last month. It resembles a praying mantis and is the largest water insect in Europe.
